Q. I have been in a relationship for 3years and now married for 1year.Me and my husband have never used protection and I had a healthy baby girl she is now 1year.My husband is HIV positive and all my tests so far is still Negative and my daughter is also negative. How can this be? I have not just done rapid test but also requested blood drawn and tested in a lab and still negative. Anonymous

Hi, You are lucky in that you are married to a husband who is HIV positive, you have a baby with him who is HIV negative and your self as negative, thank God for this because it is rear.
However this is possible and is called discondent where by one of the married courples is infected with HIV and the other one is not. This is possible because of the variation in blood groups.
Some people are said to have a special form of cells called T.cells these are very resistant to the virus which cause AIDs.However more research is being done about these cells called the T.cells
On the other hand your body survived not to have HIV because may be you gave birth from a Hospital where PMT CT is practised.
PMT CT Stands for prevention of mother to child transmission.
Take note that you need to be very careful because any time as you continue having unprotected sex with the same person, you may get infectected in the long run.

Q. In details, how does the CD4 count determine the treatment a HIV/AIDS patient is supposed to undertake? By: Joan

When the CD4 is below 250 the patient has to start treatment, when the CD4  lowers the viral load goes higher showing that the patient’s body immunity is low and can’t fight against infections, it is not only CD4 that  determine the patients treatment but also clinical staging.
