Q.Am confused, how long can one live with HIV /AIDS.My mother told me my father has HIV and thats why she left him but he has no signs. Was she lieng? Mufumbiro

Medicines that fight HIV have helped many people with HIV and AIDS live years
and even decades longer than it was before. These days there is treatment.
However, HIV treatments are not a cure, and they do not work equally well for
everyone, but they have extended the lives of many people with HIV and AIDS.

Some people may live for just a few years after getting HIV. Others
live for a long time.

A few people with HIV do not become ill for more than ten years, even without any HIV treatment.
However, these people are still infected with HIV and can pass the virus to others.

Q.If i look after a child with HIV/AIDS,can i contract the disease,i bathe him, wash and am told to carry him

No looking after a child does not make one get the disease. It is good to take care of these patients and give them necessary drugs. They need care and love just like any other patients.

Q.12 years ago, I had unprotected Sex with a Prostitute one time and after that i haven’t done that mistake. I am now scared with HIV thoughts. I didn’t notice any HIV symptoms in my body. Kindly help me are there any chances of being HIV Positive. I have donated blood several times and didn’t get any comments so far from charities. Kindly help me with your valuable comments. By: Rex

Response: Dear Rex 12 years ago since you had unprotected sex is quite a length period, you might be safe but still someone may stay with HIV/AIDS for more than 12 years without any showing signs. Therefore you need to test yourself for HIV/AIDS so as to confirm your status and on the other hand use condom and be faithful to your partner.

Can i get HIV/HIV if a man kisses me deep in the mouth? Margret

Mouth kissing is a very low risk activity in terms of HIV transmission.
HIV is only present in saliva in small amounts, insufficient to cause infection with HIV. But if your partner has blood in your mouth, you should avoid kissing until there is no more bleeding. Problem its very hard to know if one partner has sores unless the other party informs you.

Is it true that your father can Have HIV/AIDS when your mother doesnt have and they stay together? Kunya

Yes it is possible for one of your parents to be infected and the other is free from HIV/AIDS. They may be discordant couples
