About YoHAAP

YoHAAP, Youth and HIV/AIDS Awareness Project, an initiative of  BROSDI started in 2007.

It was built on the concept that:

Culturally, it is the Aunt that educates the girl child especially, about matters related to reproductive and sexual issues. The challenge faced by many is that the girl cannot ask questions lest the Aunt accuses her of already engaging in sexual activities. The result is that the girl keeps quiet, asks no questions and when the Aunt is done, she thanks her politely and leaves.”

Now, has this girl learnt anything? No! and it is because she could not ask anything. This is the basis of YoHAAP .

The Project aims at creating awareness on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues, HIV/AIDS inclusive, among the rural communities with particular focus on the youth.

This is done by engaging the youth into a knowledge sharing platform with persons they do not know. It is a fact that they need answers …

… on this platform, they are free to ask whatever they want without fear.
