Catching HIV/AIDS without Playing Unprotected Sex

June 6, 2008 · 1 Comment

Can I get HIV/AIDS with out playing unprotected sex and how? (Nakiirya Shanita, Hillside S.S)

Response from Parkhurst Justin (D.Phil)

Yes it is possible. The most common way this happens in some countries is when people inject themselves with drugs, and share the needles with other people. This can spread diseases in the blood between them. Some people may also give injections to people to try and give medicine. If so, it is important that they do not re-use the needles.
In health centres they will be very careful about this, but some people outside health centres may not be. Those would be the main ways the HIV virus spreads that is not to do with sexual relations.
